ARANJUEZ

Aranjuez is an important city place for me, if you want to know why continue reading.

The district No. 4 Aranjuez is one of the 16 communes of the city of Medellín, capital of the Department of Antioquia. It is made up of 15 neighborhoods:

  • Berlín
  • San Isidro
  • Palermo
  • Los Álamos
  • Moravia
  • Sevilla
  • El Bosque
  • San Pedro
  • Manrique Central Nro. 1
  • Campo Valdés Nro. 1
  • Las Esmeraldas
  • La Piñuela
  • Aranjuez (San Cayetano)
  • Brasilia
  • Miranda
  • Universidad de Antioquia (institutional area)
  • Jardín Botánico (institutional area)
  • Parque Norte (institutional area)
  • Parque Explora (institutional area)

About the history of this commune, it has not been around too long, maybe 100 years or so, but it feels old because only now is redevelopment starting to show in. There just under 200,000 people who live there. It is a working class community, and will probably remain that way into the foreseeable future.

Aranjuez has many areas of interest for the city such as Parque Norte, Parque de Aranjuez, Casa Museo Pedro Nel Gómez, Jardín Botánico, Parque Explora, Planetario de Medellín, Parque de los Deseos, Museo Cementerio San Pedro and Centro de Desarrollo Cultural de Moravia. These places are not only directed to entertainment, but also to the cultural, emotional and intellectual growth of the individual. They have numerous activities to integrate society, beautiful art spaces to appreciate and many people willing to teach whoever wants to learn.

Apart from these wonderful centers of learning, the University of Antioquia and Ruta N are located in Aranjuez. these places are the home of thousands of students and researchers, who together will create a better future for all.

Personally, my favorite place is the botanical garden. For me it is the quietest, calmer, most peaceful and beauty of all, but I feel an immense love and gratitude for my Alma Mater and all its noise, symbol of diversity, inclusion and development.

Aranjuez has been the site where very talented people have been able to develop, like Pedro Nel Gómez. He was an engineer, urban planner, philosopher, sculptor and muralist, who was born in Anorí on July 4, 1899 and died in Medellín on June 6, 1984. There were many projects in his life, I will name only some of them: he built his House Museum, designed and directed the construction of the buildings of the School of Mines of Medellín, he made the planning of the Laureles sector, he founded the School of Architecture of the University National, where he occupied several times the position of dean and decorated the Municipal Palace (the current Museum of Antioquia) with a set of 11 murals that are known as the first cycle of his mural work.

Finally, it is important to mention that perhaps one of the disadvantages of living in this sector is the high cost of housing but this is compensated for its centrality as well as that there are numerous hospitals of important level in the sector, numerous groceries, shopping centers, telecommunications services and excellent access to transportation that includes four Metro stations.

I'm Valentina Orozco, I study medicine at Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia. I'm from Ibague and I'm 18 years old. I am kind, optimistic, respectful, tolerant and I'm trying to improve my punctuality. I'm in love with life and learning, I like to travel, the music, the photographic, the nature, the people and the learning. I do not like intolerance, nor do people who undergo others. This blog was born by an English class, but in the future it may contain different things. Have an excellent day!
